If you've been following our blog lately you know we've been covering some of the most exciting ports of departure over the last several weeks. This week we're heading to Barcelona! If you have a cruise set to depart from this city, here are a few attractions you can consider while you're there:
  1. Lаѕ Rаmblаѕ – This magnificent promenade connects Port Vell to Placa de Catalunya, right in the middle of old Barcelona. The street is packed with florists, cafes, shops, street entertainers and the Boqueria. The Boqueria is a colorful market that shouldn't be missed! You'll also pass the Gran Teatrea Liceu, Barcelona's opera house.
  2. Lа Sаgrаdа Fаmіlіа – Barcelona's funky church was designed by the famous Antоnіо Gаudі. Work began in 1883, and the intriguing building has still yet to be finished. Be sure not to miss features like the nativity theme of the frontage, the mosaic decorated towers and the massive doorways that are inscribed with designs that represent faith, hope and charity.
  3. Barri Gotic – Located in Barcelona's gothic quarter are buildings that date back to the thirteenth century. The narrow, winding streets are packed and busy with life. At the center of the Gothic Quarter you'll find the Museu Picasso, the Picasso Museum. Unsurprisingly, this building is filled to the brim with works by the artist. While you're in the quarter, another interesting place worth visiting is the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia. Take notice of its fascinating early European architecture as you wander through it.
  4. Pаrс Guеll – The Parc Guell is a public park that is considered a big treat for Gаudі fans. With its imaginative and colorful plants, what's most impressive here is it's hard landscaping featuring things like concrete arbors and mosaic lizards.
  5. Mоntjuіс – The pretty village of Montjuic rises 700 feet above the city's port and is home to museums, boutiques, art galleries and cafes. Stop by the Museu Arqueologic to view items from the prehistoric civilizations of Catalonoia and the Balearic Islands. Then, head over to the Museu Naciona; d'art de Catalunya to enjoy their collection of early works.
