Mardi Gras, Carnival Cruise Line’s, newest ship will be the largest Carnival ship and will be the first ship to feature a roller coaster at sea. Mardi Gras’ inaugural cruise will be a 9-day Northern Europe cruise from Copenhagen, Denmark to Southampton, England. After its trans-Atlantic voyage in September of next year, it will start sailing to the Caribbean in October 2020 from Port Canaveral alternating weekly seven-night sailing to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The Eastern cruise will make port visits to San Juan, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk, while the Western sailing will include calls at Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Mahogany Bay. Staterooms, including suites such as Carnival’s Family Harbor, Havana Cabana, Cloud 9 Spa options, balcony, ocean view, and interior rooms, are all on sale starting this week. In total, Mardi Gras will offer 20 different stateroom categories. The ship’s electric roller coaster, dubbed BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster will feature nearly 800 feet of twists, turns and drops with riders reaching speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour. As well as for the highly-anticipated first roller coaster at sea, this ship is the first North American cruise ship to be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
